Job Description

Early-career Quality Engineer testing TrueML’s machine-learning financial software for distressed borrowers. Executing functional, regression, and integration tests while using AI tools to improve quality workflows.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute test plans and test cases as directed by senior QE team members.
  • Perform basic functional, regression, and integration testing across Web, API, and/or Data components.
  • Identify, document, and track defects in a bug tracking system such as Jira, including reproduction steps and impact.
  • Contribute to creating and maintaining test data.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and investigating issues by reproducing defects, gathering logs, and validating fixes.
  • Contribute to basic manual and automated test scripts under guidance.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide status updates.
  • Communicate testing progress, risks, and issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Clarify requirements, scope, and expected behavior.
  • Deliver assigned tasks on time with close supervision.
  • Collaborate to unblock issues and escalate when needed.
  • Follow QE standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Build understanding of the SDLC and Agile/Scrum practices.
  • Use AI-powered code completion tools to assist with simple test automation scripts.
  • Use AI tools to generate and refine test case ideas.
  • Use AI-enhanced search to find duplicate issues, related tickets, and documentation.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in software testing, quality assurance, or a related technical role, including internships, co-ops, or academic projects.
  • Basic understanding of software development lifecycles and testing methodologies, including functional, regression, and integration testing.
  • Familiarity with testing concepts and terminology, including test cases, test data, defects, severity, and priority.
  • Basic proficiency with operating systems and common software applications.
  • Exposure to bug tracking systems such as Jira.
  • Academic or practical exposure to Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Java for basic test scripting or automation.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban and working with user stories.
  • Experience using AI-powered tools in an academic, personal, or professional context.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly describe issues and test results.
  • Ability to follow instructions, learn new tools and processes, and complete assigned tasks with supervision.
  • Interest in and willingness to use GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Gemini, and AI test generators.
  • Experience with test management tools such as Xray or TestRail is a plus.
