Job Description
Junior Underwriter (Marine Insurance) supporting underwriting process and evaluating risk for renewal business. Enhancing broker relationships and maintaining operational excellence in policy documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Drive profitable portfolio performance by managing a dedicated book of renewal business, conducting comprehensive underwriting reviews approximately 90 days prior to expiration.
- Protect underwriting integrity and portfolio quality by evaluating risks against established appetite and authority thresholds.
- Provide strategic underwriting recommendations by preparing thorough referral packages for accounts exceeding authority limits.
- Maintain audit ready policy documentation through the ongoing organization, management, and quality control of electronic policy files.
- Deliver operational excellence by issuing Package, Commercial Marine, and Umbrella/Bumbershoot policies within 48 hours of receipt.
- Strengthen underwriting compliance by proactively obtaining, tracking, and following up on outstanding broker documentation.
- Enhance broker relationships and service excellence by serving as a trusted point of contact for policy, coverage, and billing inquiries.
Requirements:
- An associate’s degree from an accredited college, technical school, or equivalent combination of education, training, and related work experience.
- At least one year of relevant professional experience is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn underwriting systems and tools.
- A strong desire to stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
