Job Description
Junior Windows Application Administrator monitoring and maintaining enterprise applications for a federal government IT program. Troubleshooting Windows systems, databases, security patches, and overnight incidents.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor enterprise applications, a public-facing website, and database alerts throughout the overnight shift
- Respond to incidents promptly, notify stakeholders, and restore service within defined timelines
- Troubleshoot, patch, and maintain Windows-hosted applications during scheduled maintenance windows
- Apply security patches and STIG configurations and help remediate vulnerability scan findings
- Provide first-line support for Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases and escalate as needed
- Track incidents and outages in ServiceNow and help prepare after-action reports
- Document overnight procedures and hand off open issues to the day team
- Provide overnight support for enterprise applications on a federal government IT program
Requirements:
- U.S. citizenship required
- Minimum T3 security clearance required
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in IT or a related field, OR a current Microsoft certification
- 2+ years of Windows Server and application administration or IT operations support
- Experience with incident response, patching, and troubleshooting in a production environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and basic SQL
- Ability to work a fixed overnight schedule (10:00 PM – 6:00 AM ET)
- CompTIA Security+ CE (or equivalent DoD 8140 baseline certification) required at hire
- Microsoft Windows Server certification required; must be obtained within 6 months of hire if not already held
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Tier 3 or Tier 5 background investigation and a Common Access Card (CAC)
- Completion of required DoD security awareness training within 30 days of start
- Preferred: Experience in a DoD or federal IT environment (STIG, IAVM, ACAS)
- Preferred: Exposure to Oracle Database, Apache/Tomcat, Splunk, or MOVEit
- Preferred: Experience with ServiceNow or another ITIL-based ticketing system
- Preferred: Cloud platform experience (OCI, Azure, or AWS)
