Job Description
Lead IBM i / Power Systems Engineer supporting Oshkosh’s specialty-truck and access-equipment manufacturing infrastructure. Designing, troubleshooting, and advancing Windows, Linux, IBM i, virtualization, and Active Directory environments.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, implement, and support server systems, including Windows OS and server hardware, Linux OS, IBM i OS and hardware, virtualization, and Active Directory
- Serve as an escalation point for advanced operational support and troubleshooting for server and compute environments
- Take ownership of server aspects and projects from end to end
- Triage and resolve server issues and outages through ServiceNow requests
- Communicate and coordinate with stakeholders for escalation-related activities
- Forecast infrastructure needs from 6 months to 2 years and initiate RPF or RFI processes
- Learn and adopt cloud, continuous integration, automation, and process-improvement technologies and practices
- Monitor and analyze the database ecosystem and capacity
- Coordinate cross-functional database, application, and infrastructure activities
- Apply ITIL processes for ticket resolution and stakeholder response
- Design, implement, and operate complex solutions
- Guide junior engineers and translate business needs into technical designs
- Support advancement of the strategic roadmap
- Collaborate with business and information technology stakeholders on solution design and development
- Maintain relationships with networking, identity management, storage and backup teams, and application leads
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Five (5) or more years of experience in the field or in a related area
- Monitoring, troubleshooting, customer service, problem solving, cross-team collaboration, risk analysis, analytical skills, operating systems, hardware, infrastructure design, and scripting
- Strong communication, time management, problem solving, teamwork, leadership, mentoring, project management, business acumen, requirements gathering, and planning
- Standout qualification: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field
