Job Description
Lead Java backend developer guiding AWS cloud-native application delivery for a manufacturing company. Driving Spring Boot microservices, architecture, DevOps, and engineering team mentorship.
Responsibilities:
- Provides technical leadership and delivery ownership for a team of software engineers building and operating scalable cloud-native applications on AWS
- Drives architecture decisions, engineering best practices, and solution design across Spring Boot microservices, OpenSearch platforms, CI/CD, observability, and AWS infrastructure
- Collaborates with product, architecture, and platform teams to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing solutions
- Mentors engineers and improves development processes
- Leads software engineers in delivering business-critical applications
- Establishes technical direction and architectural standards
- Drives AWS cloud adoption and modernization initiatives
- Ensures solution scalability, performance, security, and reliability
- Promotes DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and AI-assisted development practices
- Supports incident resolution, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
- Partners with Product Owners, Architects, and stakeholders to align technology investments with business goals
- Drives successful delivery of complex cloud-native solutions
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree is a must
- 10+ years’ experience in this capacity
- 5+ years in a lead role
- Experience with Java
- Experience with Spring Boot
- Experience with microservices
- Experience with REST APIs
- Experience with AWS, including ECS/Fargate, IAM, ALB, RDS, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager
- Experience with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch
- Experience with Docker
- Experience with CI/CD
- Experience with GitHub
- Knowledge of distributed systems
- Knowledge of cloud architecture
- Knowledge of observability
- Knowledge of DevOps
- Knowledge of infrastructure as code
- Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases
- Knowledge of event-driven architecture
- Experience with API integration
- Experience with performance optimization
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools
- Strong technical leadership, communication, stakeholder management, mentoring and coaching, collaboration, problem solving, critical thinking, decision making, ownership, conflict resolution, adaptability, and ability to influence cross-functional teams
