Job Description
Legal Engineer improving legal AI quality for NetDocuments’ intelligent document management platform. Building evaluations, software tools, and agentic workflows for legal product teams.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and improve the performance of NetDocuments’ systems and products on tasks requiring legal knowledge for quality assurance
- Design and implement legal quality assurance evaluations and supporting software platforms
- Discover, prove, and recommend methods to improve legal quality in NetDocuments’ systems and help customers get more value from their data
- Partner with and advise product managers, engineering managers, and designers across the company
- Define correct legal AI output and build trustworthy, repeatable evaluations and software tools
- Review specifications, prompts, taxonomies, and product copy for legal accuracy
- Advise product teams on whether designs match how legal professionals think and work
- Identify and validate system improvements, including prompts, agentic workflows, new features, and technologies
- Serve as an enablement team member for product teams rather than external customers; the role is not forward deployed
- Report to the Manager of Legal Engineering
Requirements:
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to speak law to technologists, and technology to lawyers
- Demonstrated ability to manage time and prioritize projects to meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- JD, LLB, or equivalent legal qualification, or a Bachelor’s Degree plus 3+ years working directly in legal practice, legal knowledge management, or legal operations
- Experience building executable software systems that work on legal data and improve legal workflows
- Experience working with structured data and formats such as JSON, XML, and Markdown
- Experience using agentic AI systems for legal and software development tasks
- Experience with evaluation of non-deterministic systems, including data curation and generation, grading, evaluation metrics and techniques
- Experience building and improving agentic workflows for legal tasks
- Knowledge of Computational Law techniques outside of machine learning
- Familiarity with harness development and AI-assisted software development lifecycle practices
- Full-stack software development experience
