Job Description
Management Accountant maintaining Xero ledgers, reconciliations, and UK VAT for Expedock’s offshore workforce augmentation platform. Supporting daily financial operations for a UK-based client from the Philippines.
Responsibilities:
- Set up supplier and payroll payments, download electronic bank statements, and execute daily transactions
- Prepare draft monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and period-end schedules following UK accounting principles
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping functions in Xero, including bills, sales invoices, journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and account reconciliations
- Review, calculate, and prepare UK VAT returns in accordance with HMRC regulations and basic UK VAT rules
- Perform regular balance sheet, bank, and intercompany reconciliations
- Handle day-to-day financial operations as an independent contributor for a UK-based client
- Communicate with internal stakeholders, external accountants, and banking partners
- Manage daily financial workflows independently and adapt to established processes
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in bookkeeping, management accounting, or financial operations supporting UK-based businesses or similar jurisdictions
- Strong foundational knowledge of UK accounting principles
- Knowledge of general ledger maintenance, month-end accruals, prepayments, and basic UK VAT rules
- Hands-on proficiency with Xero for transactional accounting
- Experience navigating corporate banking platforms to download statements and set up supplier or payroll payments
- Exceptional attention to detail in ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and financial documentation
- Ability to work accurately as an independent contributor
- Excellent written and spoken English skills
- Ability to manage daily financial workflows independently, exercise sound financial judgment, and adapt to established processes
- Dedicated home office with reliable high-speed internet and backup connectivity
- Fiber internet with recommended speed of 100/50 Mbps
- Backup internet capable of at least 20 Mbps
- Quiet, secure, and private home workspace
- ACCA, CIMA, or AAT qualification (or equivalent coursework) preferred
- Prior experience with multi-currency reconciliations and Making Tax Digital (MTD) VAT submissions preferred
