Job Description

Managing Attorney leading workers’ compensation defense, litigation, and attorney development. Fully remote role with women-owned California law firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the legal defense of workers’ compensation cases from inception to final resolution
  • Handle an active caseload and lead and mentor a team of attorneys
  • Manage and oversee a team of attorneys and legal staff
  • Provide mentorship, training, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities
  • Oversee case strategy, litigation management, and legal work product for quality and consistency
  • Handle discovery, depositions, settlement negotiations, hearings, and trial preparation
  • Collaborate with firm leadership on workflow management, staffing, and departmental growth initiatives
  • Maintain strong client relationships and provide exceptional client service
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and developing legal talent
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and inclusive team culture
  • Ensure compliance with firm policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Exercise clear and conceptual thinking, judgment, troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion
  • Handle work-related stress, multiple priorities, and deadlines
  • Perform computer keyboarding and travel as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s and Juris Doctor degrees
  • Member of the State Bar of California, in good standing
  • Minimum 5+ years of workers’ compensation defense experience preferred
  • Prior management, supervisory, or mentoring experience strongly preferred
  • Superior research, analytical, and negotiating ability
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and team management abilities
  • Commitment to proactive case management and client service
  • Experience in Merus or Litify is preferred but not required
  • Experience in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Teams preferred but not required
