Job Description

Mid Software Engineer building Python and TypeScript SaaS for agri-food businesses at YAGRO. Integrating AI into reliable full-stack customer solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain enterprise Software as a Service (SaaS) and white label technology solutions for agri-food enterprises
  • Build and maintain production-quality software using Python and TypeScript
  • Develop applications using Vue 3 and Nuxt in SPA mode, or equivalent reactive frameworks, alongside asynchronous Python services
  • Work with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, and SQL
  • Break down technical problems, diagnose and resolve bugs, and contribute scalable, maintainable solutions
  • Take ownership of individual stages in multi-stage asynchronous processing pipelines, including uploading, validating, processing and storing data
  • Integrate LLM or ML model APIs into production features
  • Take ownership of assigned work from development through deployment
  • Communicate progress, dependencies and challenges early
  • Contribute to planning and delivery using Agile/Scrum or equivalent methods
  • Collaborate with engineering, Product, QA and design colleagues
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback
  • Share knowledge, support colleagues and help onboard new team members where appropriate
  • Contribute to frontend and backend work across APIs, distributed systems and microservices
  • Maintain clear code, system and process documentation
  • Develop reliable automated tests
  • Address security risks, performance bottlenecks and reliability issues
  • Build and maintain services in AWS
  • Apply AI-related cost, latency and reliability considerations to implementation decisions
  • Contribute to infrastructure, CI/CD workflows and SQL-first database migrations where relevant
  • Support event-driven processing, containerised Lambda functions, presigned URL uploads and asynchronous validation where used
  • Develop technical skills through feedback, practical delivery and knowledge sharing
  • Build understanding of YAGRO’s sectors, customer problems and product usage
  • Explore vector search, embeddings, RAG, fine-tuning, prompt engineering and AI orchestration approaches
  • Help evaluate model output quality through structured examples and lightweight evaluation sets
  • Assess custom agent and pipeline tooling, data-processing libraries and columnar or Parquet-based storage
  • Align work with YAGRO’s business objectives and customer needs
  • Build working relationships across the business and communicate technical information clearly
  • Assist colleagues with customer feedback or issues brought to engineering
  • Identify opportunities where AI could improve products or workflows and assess feasibility, benefits and trade-offs with Product, Business Development and engineering colleagues

Requirements:

  • Two to five years of professional software development experience
  • Relevant degree or a proven track record of delivering production-quality software
  • Strong Python and TypeScript skills
  • Practical experience integrating AI into production applications
  • Experience building production-quality software using sound engineering principles, design patterns and modular code structure
  • Experience with Vue 3 and Nuxt in SPA mode, or equivalent reactive frameworks
  • Experience with asynchronous Python services using FastAPI or equivalent technologies
  • Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, and SQL
  • Ability to understand multi-stage asynchronous processing pipelines
  • Experience integrating LLM or ML model APIs into production features
  • Knowledge of safeguards against prompt injection and invalid outputs
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum or equivalent methods
  • Familiarity with GitHub, GitLab and Jira
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as PyTest, Jest or Playwright
  • Understanding of security risks, performance bottlenecks and reliability issues
  • Experience building and maintaining AWS services, using Lambda, RDS, S3 or Lightsail as appropriate
  • Understanding of AI-related cost, latency and reliability considerations
  • Where relevant, experience with Terraform, GitHub Actions, dbmate, event-driven processing, containerised Lambda functions, presigned URL uploads and asynchronous validation
  • Relevant experience with vector search, embeddings, RAG, fine-tuning, prompt engineering or LangChain is advantageous to the role
  • Knowledge of data-processing libraries such as Polars or pandas, and columnar or Parquet-based storage where relevant
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly, verbally and in writing
