Job Description
Operations Manager leading multi-site hospitality teams, client service and contract finances for BaxterStorey. Driving business development and Health & Safety across South Wales.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction to direct reports and ensure high service levels
- Take responsibility for company Health & Safety and promote a culture of excellence
- Proactively present BaxterStorey to the South Wales marketplace and pursue growth opportunities
- Work with sales teams on leads, tenders, presentations and site show rounds
- Conduct market research to identify business development opportunities and new market sectors
- Build prospective-client relationships and mobilise new contracts
- Follow up leads and secure appointments
- Monitor and contribute to client Service Level Agreements and report performance themes
- Build client relationships while ensuring onsite managers remain primary contacts
- Ensure direct reports meet client needs, contractual obligations and company values
- Manage contract finances within budget and report to the Operations Director
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Conduct quarterly Health & Safety site audits and communicate new policies
- Work with clients, suppliers and teams to identify service improvements and share feedback
- Recruit, induct, appraise, coach, mentor and develop direct reports
- Write job descriptions and person specifications
- Support grievance and disciplinary procedures
- Create development, improvement and succession plans
- Recognise and reward exceptional performance
Requirements:
- Proven track record of successfully managing multi-site operations and multiple clients
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing managers
- Experience managing service level agreements and key performance indicators
- Experience leading a department or business function
- Experience of data analysis and interpreting and presenting data in a business environment, including proposals
- Proven track record of presenting management information and collating and reporting statistics for performance measurement
- Some experience in a catering environment is desirable
- Up-to-date knowledge of current foodservice developments and food trends
- Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint, to at least intermediate level
- Strong working knowledge of employment legislation relating to grievance, disciplinary, managing attendance and recruitment
- Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety processes and their implementation
- Charismatic leadership skills, ability to engender trust and engage at all levels
- Influencing and motivational skills
- Strategic expertise and commercial vision
- Strong decision-making skills and ability to remain thoughtful and objective while responding quickly to external events
- Ability to set compelling visions and develop stretching objectives
- Ability to travel across South Wales and to the UK for wider business events and meetings
- Must spend at least 60% of time on site in client locations
