Job Description
PACS Administrator responsible for managing imaging systems and workflows across the healthcare organization. Collaborating with clinical teams and supporting compliance with healthcare regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the administration, support, optimization, integration, and ongoing maintenance of PACS and related systems.
- Serve as the primary liaison between clinical operations, radiologists, imaging technologists, physicians, vendors, and IT teams.
- Provide operational support, troubleshooting, application configuration, workflow optimization, user training, system upgrades, and vendor coordination.
- Monitor system performance, uptime, storage utilization, and manage user provisioning and security.
- Collaborate with radiologists and technologists to improve imaging workflows and recommend system enhancements.
- Support and maintain integration between PACS, RIS, EMR/EHR, VNA, and third-party applications.
- Coordinate with vendors for support cases and manage PACS migrations and technology deployments.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and organizational requirements, monitoring data quality and business continuity processes.
- Develop training materials and provide support to staff.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience in IT, Healthcare Informatics, Radiologic Technology, Healthcare Administration, or related field
- 5+ years supporting PACS, RIS, Enterprise Imaging, VNA, or related healthcare imaging systems.
- Experience supporting radiology operations in a healthcare environment.
- Experience troubleshooting application, workflow, and interface issues.
- Familiarity with imaging modalities including CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, PET/CT, and X-Ray.
- Strong understanding of: DICOM and DICOM Routing, HL7, PACS Architecture, RIS Workflows, Enterprise Imaging, Vendor Neutral Archives (VNA), Image Exchange Platforms, Active Directory and User Access Management, Windows Server environments, SQL query fundamentals
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent customer service orientation
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
- Project coordination and implementation experience
