Job Description
Patch Engineering Lead securing NexusTek clients’ IT infrastructure through patch management and vulnerability remediation. Automating updates, scanning systems, and reducing cybersecurity risk.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and scans across the network, systems, and applications
- Develop, test, and deploy patches and updates in a timely, controlled manner
- Minimize disruption to business operations during patch deployment
- Collaborate with IT and security teams to prioritize vulnerabilities by risk and impact
- Coordinate vulnerability remediation efforts
- Document patching activities, vulnerability findings, and remediation status for audit and compliance requirements
- Monitor security advisories, vendor notifications, and threat intelligence for emerging vulnerabilities and patch releases
- Assist in developing and enforcing patch management policies, procedures, and best practices
- Provide technical guidance and support on vulnerability mitigation and patch deployment challenges
- Identify, analyze, and remediate vulnerabilities using vulnerability scanning tools and patch management platforms
- Communicate and collaborate with clients and internal teams on security priorities
- Participate in virtual interviews with the hiring manager and VP-level team member
- Provide professional references during the hiring process
Requirements:
- Proven experience in patch management and vulnerability assessment within a professional IT or cybersecurity environment
- Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus, Qualys, or Rapid7
- Strong understanding of Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems and patch deployment processes
- Knowledge of network protocols, security principles, and common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs)
- Experience with automated patch management solutions such as Microsoft SCCM, WSUS, or third-party patching tools
- Understanding of NIST, HIPAA, or PCI-DSS compliance frameworks
- Experience in a professional services or consulting environment within the technology sector
- Strong scripting skills with PowerShell or Python
- Experience patching server operating systems and hypervisors, including Windows Server, Linux, VMware/ESXi, maintenance windows, and rollback
- Experience patching network and infrastructure firmware, including firewalls, switches, routers, and out-of-band management
- Familiarity with storage patching and firmware for NAS, SAN, and backups without disrupting availability
- Hands-on experience with Automox, N-able, Intune, and LogicMonitor
- Experience with Tenable, Qualys, and Rapid7 vulnerability scanning and remediation
- Scripting skills with PowerShell, Python, or Bash
- Working knowledge of AWS SSM, Azure Update Manager, and GCP
- Familiarity with ITIL change management and ITSM/PSA tools
- MSP multi-tenant experience managing concurrent patch cycles across clients
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CEH
- Three professional references, including at least one direct supervisor
- Ability to work Monday through Friday during local business hours
- Must be eligible to work in the United States; NexusTek participates in E-Verify for all US employees
