Job Description

Data Analyst responsible for data-driven solutions in pharmacy purchasing and payer analytics. Collaborating with multiple departments to optimize performance and support decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Pharmacy Operations, Purchasing, Payer Relations, Finance, and IT teams to develop data-driven solutions that improve drug purchasing performance, optimize payer reimbursement outcomes, and support strategic decision-making across the organization
  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and present complex pharmacy, claims, purchasing, and financial data
  • Design reporting frameworks, identify opportunities for cost savings and margin improvement, automate business processes, and support the organization's growing data science and analytics capabilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and drug purchasing analyses across all pharmacy locations
  • Develop and manage reporting that supports purchasing strategy, inventory optimization, and vendor performance management
  • Analyze drug purchasing records for pricing discrepancies, contract compliance issues, rebate opportunities, and vendor changes
  • Identify and recommend purchasing strategies to optimize performance against wholesaler and manufacturer contracts
  • Create and maintain daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual payer and PBM performance reports for Payer Relations, Finance, and Operations teams
  • Analyze reimbursement trends, payer contract performance, and other pharmacy reimbursement metrics
  • Support payer contract negotiations by providing financial modeling, reimbursement analyses, and performance insights
  • Collect, validate, cleanse, and analyze large healthcare, claims, purchasing, and operational datasets
  • Develop recurring reports, scorecards, and dashboards using business intelligence tools
  • Apply statistical techniques, predictive analytics, and machine learning methods to healthcare and pharmacy datasets
  • Build scalable analytical solutions that support organizational growth and evolving business needs
  • Collaborate with Pharmacy Operations, Purchasing, Payer Relations, Finance, and IT teams and present findings, recommendations, and business insights to stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare, pharmacy, managed care, PBM, payer analytics, financial analytics, or related analytical environments
  • Experience working with healthcare claims, pharmacy dispensing data, reimbursement data, drug purchasing data, and pharmacy financial performance metrics
  • Experience performing PBM contract analytics, reimbursement modeling, payer performance analysis, and contract profitability assessments
  • Experience analyzing pharmacy reimbursement methodologies, including NADAC, AWP, WAC, MAC pricing, dispensing fees, rebates, and other pharmacy pricing and reimbursement components
  • Experience developing dashboards, automated reporting solutions, forecasting models, and analytical tools to support business decision-making
  • Experience collaborating with business, operational, financial, and technical stakeholders
  • Experience with statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and data science methodologies preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Power Query, PivotTables, complex formulas, and financial modeling
  • Strong SQL and database management skills
  • Experience with Python for data analysis, automation, statistical modeling, and machine learning
  • Experience with Databricks or similar cloud-based analytics platforms
  • Experience with business intelligence and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with data science libraries and tools such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Jupyter Notebooks, and related technologies
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy operations, drug purchasing, reimbursement methodologies, and payer/PBM contracting
  • Knowledge of PBM contract structures, reimbursement formulas, generic effective rate calculations, spread pricing, audit processes, and contract performance monitoring
  • Understanding of pharmacy financial metrics, including Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), Cost-to-Fill, gross margin analysis, reimbursement variance analysis, and profitability modeling
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical pricing benchmarks, including NADAC, AWP, WAC, MAC pricing, and their impact on pharmacy purchasing and reimbursement performance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret complex datasets and translate findings into actionable business recommendations
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
