Job Description
PHP engineer building AWS-based ETL and document-processing workflows for MPX’s secure print and digital communications platform. Supporting PDF automation, postal processing, and high-volume transaction printing.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and support high-volume ETL and document-processing workflows
- Ingest, transform, validate, and reconcile millions of records and documents annually
- Work with JSON, XML, fixed-width, delimited, mainframe, print-stream, and API-based data sources
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams
- Write object-oriented, pragmatic PHP and PDFLib applications for high-volume transaction printing workflows
- Implement custom font handling, encoding, embedding, and text rendering in PDF documents
- Leverage PDFLib, Quadient, Crawford Technologies, and similar PDF tools
- Integrate with the AWS SDK and third-party and internal APIs and services
- Develop and support BCC Mail Manager integrations for address standardization, presort generation, NCOA updates, and manifest creation
- Ensure USPS regulatory compliance and optimize mail delivery efficiency
- Produce quality, readable, maintainable code and communicate it to technical and non-technical coworkers
- Convert client requirements and designs into functional applications

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or comparable work experience
- 4–6 years of LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) stack development experience
- Experience in the statement processing industry highly desirable
- Expertise with PDF workflows and solutions, including Crawford Technologies, PDFLib, Quadient, Adobe, iText, or similar
- Print industry experience, especially with print stream conversion and transformation (PDF, AFP, PostScript, PCL, etc.)
- AWS experience, including S3, EC2, RDS, CloudWatch, and AWS SDK
- Experience parsing complex data formats, including JSON, XML, delimited, fixed-width, and mainframe formats
- API development and testing experience, including RESTful and SOAP
- Strong technical aptitude and passion for coding
- Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
- Superior interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong work ethic with a “can do; will do” attitude
- Ability to thrive in a team environment and be a positive team player
