Job Description
Principal ML Engineer building Zillow’s multimodal AI agents for real estate customers. Developing Voice AI, Deep Research, evaluation frameworks, and scalable agent infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Develop large-scale, fault-tolerant multimodal agentic experiences reaching millions of customers
- Design and develop agent interaction modes including Voice AI and Deep Research
- Pioneer evaluation frameworks, tracing systems, and safety guardrails for trustworthy and responsible AI agents
- Track emerging agentic paradigms and convert them into product innovation
- Lead complex, multi-team initiatives connecting applied research with scalable engineering
- Distill research findings and AI system architectures into actionable insights for executives and cross-functional teams
Requirements:
- Master's degree or above, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Emphasis on building products using frontier multimodal LLMs
- 5+ years of experience deploying large-scale ML models
- Most recent 2–3 years building agent-based systems, multi-agent collaboration, or similar paradigms
- Experience developing dialogue systems capable of long conversations, context-aware tool selection, and compliant response generation
- Experience building AI services handling hundreds of millions of daily interactions with high availability, low latency, and robust fault tolerance
- Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks such as LangGraph, Agents SDK, and AutoGen
- Familiarity with production ML infrastructure
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical direction across teams and present to executive leadership
- Articles, patents, or high-impact research publications are a strong plus
