Job Description
Program finance and operations lead supporting budgets, funding, people, contracts, and projects. Enabling RMI’s global energy transition programs to operate effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Support program operating rhythm by preparing materials, tracking follow-ups, and translating leadership discussions into coordinated action
- Support the Program Finance and Operations Manager, managing directors, and principals with operating cadence and business-cycle alignment
- Facilitate coordination across programs and operations on shared resources and objectives
- Support annual employee engagement planning and implementation
- Coordinate annual budgets, proposal budgets, reforecasting, revenue planning, expense planning, and workforce planning
- Provide financial updates and analysis to program leaders and the CFO as needed
- Coordinate with Finance and Development to maintain accurate budgets and funding pipelines
- Analyze budgeting data and prepare fundraising, staffing, and financial management recommendations
- Track project and grant balances and flag variances or risks
- Track and report on funding pipelines and potential funding gaps
- Support development of donor and client/government proposals and reports
- Maintain compliance documentation and programmatic materials
- Coordinate Salesforce funding pipeline updates
- Assist with donor communications and management
- Support hiring, resume reviews, interviews, onboarding, training plans, and team learning opportunities
- Maintain onboarding materials and coordinate team events and retreats
- Coordinate contracts, vendors, procurement, and invoicing processes
- Support contract reviews and invoice reviews with Accounts Receivable/Payable
- Coordinate vendor, supplier, client, and international employee expense invoices
- Maintain project data and support project creation in RMI systems
- Provide consultative support on timesheet and expense-report review and approval
- Track performance indicators and prepare leadership summaries
- Maintain SharePoint homepages and file systems, including NDA compliance
- Coordinate program needs with RMI cross-functional departments
- Contribute to RMI-wide process improvement and centrally led initiatives
- Monitor compliance with RMI policies and escalate inconsistencies
Requirements:
- 3-6 years of experience in operations, finance, consulting or related analytical roles in for-profit or nonprofit environments
- Organizational skills required for successful operations of 50 person teams and complicated funding compliance
- Experience supporting senior leadership with analysis, reporting and operational coordination
- Outstanding analytical skills
- Experience contributing to operational change in fast-growing organization
- Ability to communicate with and manage diverse stakeholder groups within a remote or distributed environment, fostering clarity and trust
