Job Description
Protection & Control Specialist supporting field commissioning and testing activities on power system projects. Ideal for those who enjoy troubleshooting and working on-site in British Columbia.
Responsibilities:
- Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of protective relays, RTUs, PLCs, DFRs, and communication systems
- Perform field testing for transmission and distribution systems, transformers, buses, and generation assets
- Assist with configuration and commissioning of relay systems, including SEL and GE Multilin relays
- Support SCADA and RTU integration and upgrades
- Interpret drawings, protection schemes, and relay settings
- Troubleshoot and resolve field issues with guidance from senior specialists
- Contribute to project documentation and commissioning reports
Requirements:
- 3 - 7 years of progressive experience in protection & controls field services
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience with protection relays (SEL preferred; GE considered an asset)
- Familiarity with RTU and communication systems (SEL, GE, Novatech, etc.)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel across BC
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
