Job Description

Protection & Control Specialist supporting field commissioning and testing activities on power system projects. Ideal for those who enjoy troubleshooting and working on-site in British Columbia.

Responsibilities:

  • Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of protective relays, RTUs, PLCs, DFRs, and communication systems
  • Perform field testing for transmission and distribution systems, transformers, buses, and generation assets
  • Assist with configuration and commissioning of relay systems, including SEL and GE Multilin relays
  • Support SCADA and RTU integration and upgrades
  • Interpret drawings, protection schemes, and relay settings
  • Troubleshoot and resolve field issues with guidance from senior specialists
  • Contribute to project documentation and commissioning reports

Requirements:

  • 3 - 7 years of progressive experience in protection & controls field services
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience with protection relays (SEL preferred; GE considered an asset)
  • Familiarity with RTU and communication systems (SEL, GE, Novatech, etc.)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel across BC
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
