Job Description
Second-in-Command pilot supporting safe Qavvik Air flight operations. Assisting with navigation, aircraft systems, compliance, documentation, and passenger service.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Pilot-in-Command in all aspects of flight operations
- Prepare the cockpit, review flight plans and procedures, and conduct pre-flight checks
- Monitor and manage aircraft systems, navigation, and communication during flight
- Ensure compliance with flight regulations, standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and company procedures
- Maintain currency and proficiency through initial and recurrent training
- Communicate with air traffic control, other aircraft, ground personnel, and operational staff
- Maintain and update aircraft logs, flight logs, maintenance records, fuel logs, incident reports, and other documentation
- Assist with aircraft navigation using GPS, autopilot, and traditional methods
- Cross-check navigation data and ensure the aircraft remains on course
- Provide exceptional customer service to passengers and clients
- Collaborate with the flight crew and ground personnel to foster effective Crew Resource Management
- Report safety concerns and incidents promptly and contribute to a culture of safety
- Participate in training sessions, simulator exercises, and proficiency checks
- Stay informed about aviation technology, regulations, and safety procedures
- Perform other duties as determined by the company
- Operate from an assigned Qavvik Air operations base, with assignments subject to change based on business and operational needs
Requirements:
- Meet the minimum qualifications specified in Federal Aviation Regulation Part 135.293 flight check
- Minimum of 1,200 logged flight hours
- Commercial Pilot Certificate with single-engine, land certificate and Instrument rating
- Turbo-prop experience preferred
- Thorough understanding of the operations manual and complete knowledge of company operations and procedures related to the Pilot-in-Command position
- Valid second-class aviation medical certificate issued by an authorized aviation medical examiner
- Current driver’s license with an acceptable driving record meeting NANA’s insurance requirement
- Adequate physical fitness to handle aircraft controls, pre-flight inspections, and emergency situations
- Good vision, including color vision and depth perception
- Meet medical requirements set by appropriate aviation authorities
- Ability to work irregular hours and travel as needed
- Ability to travel up to 100% to various locations within the U.S. and/or remote locations
- Ability to use alternative transportation including snow machines, boats, small airplanes, and ATVs when required
- Strong understanding of aircraft systems, navigation, and flight procedures
- Proficiency in maneuvering assistance, navigation, instrument interpretation, and emergency response procedures
- Strong situational awareness and decision-making support
- Clear and concise communication skills
