Job Description
SCADA Engineer II designing and commissioning control systems for SOLV Energy’s utility-scale solar and battery-storage projects. Supporting EPC delivery, NERC compliance, and field integrations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering-level support in the design, development, and delivery of SOLV SCADA solutions and EPC projects
- Design and develop SCADA integration components and systems for utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage projects
- Define and implement product design standards and best practices within a team environment
- Review and implement project-specific requirements
- Generate device point lists, HMI mockups and assets, commissioning test plans, and completion checklists
- Program and commission SCADA servers, data historians, and HMI systems
- Review project closeout documentation and verify contractual deliverables
- Provide intermediate-level technical support for diverse SCADA equipment configurations
- Participate in technical discussions with customers and partners
- Maintain a centralized knowledge base
- Troubleshoot plant monitoring and control systems using diagnostic utilities
- Coordinate with customers and field technicians for on-site commissioning and installation support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on platform development and data integration
- Provide project status reports to the OTS project management team and support risk mitigation
- Promote NERC compliance and governance in programming, commissioning, documentation, reporting, knowledge transfer, and training
- Support the SOLV Operations center with project integrations and handoffs
Requirements:
- 2–4 years of SCADA engineering experience
- Experience in renewable energy, including industrial or utility-scale PV solar, BESS, or wind desired
- Proficiency with Python
- Intermediate working knowledge of Inductive Automation’s Ignition SCADA platform
- Intermediate working knowledge of relational databases and SCADA applications
- Familiarity with PLC equipment, including Schweitzer Engineering RTAC, Allen Bradley Control/CompactLogix, GE/Emerson RX3i, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with SCADA network installation and commissioning using fiber optics, serial RS-232/RS-485, and Ethernet TCP/IP
- Strong knowledge of Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA, and OPC DA
- Proficiency reading and developing power system, networking and control, electrical, mechanical, and civil diagrams and schematics
- Ability to work with subcontractors and field personnel
- Proficiency with project management, scheduling, and task management tools
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship now or in the future
