Job Description
Senior Accountant managing close, investment accounting, and compliance for Branch’s technology-driven insurance business. Applying AI to automate finance workflows and train process owners.
Responsibilities:
- Own month-end close, reconciliations, and recurring reporting, delivered on deadline
- Own investment accounting, including journal entries, investment schedules, and reconciliations
- Prepare and support state compliance filings, forecasts, and calculations
- Support accounting for new insurance programs and standardize their processes
- Maintain GAAP, statutory, and regulatory compliance, including internal controls and documentation
- Identify recurring accounting work that should no longer be manual and rebuild it with AI tools
- Map current-state processes, prototype AI-enabled alternatives, and lead implementation
- Hand off automations with documentation and training so process owners can manage them independently
- Evaluate and pilot AI tools for accounting and finance and train team members
- Ensure AI-enabled processes include appropriate controls, documentation, and human review
- Apply AI to investment accounting and reporting workflows
- Align accounting-team AI work with Branch’s enterprise AI direction, standards, and governance
- Support an expanding set of insurance programs while standardizing accounting practices
Requirements:
- 5+ years of corporate accounting experience
- Independent ownership of month-end close, reconciliations, and compliance reporting
- Investment accounting experience, or ability to learn it quickly
- A four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Hands-on experience applying AI to real work
- Track record of automating repetitive work
- Ability to teach and document built processes for handoff
- Excellent understanding of AI tools and concepts
- Proactive and creative approach to challenging the status quo
- Ability to make decisions with incomplete information
- Excellent analytical skills
- Proven track record managing multiple projects and prioritizing work
- Ability to work independently and handle ambiguity
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to identify opportunities and create data-supported solutions
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Insurance or statutory accounting experience is a plus, not a requirement
