Job Description
Senior Accountant managing construction project ledgers, costs, revenue recognition, reconciliations, and financial reporting for Calista Corporation. Supporting audits, tax returns, and project managers.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee project and general ledger records, costs, funding, and revenue recognition
- Prepare reconciliations, financial analysis, and management reports
- Review incurred cost submissions
- Prepare and analyze WIP schedules
- Prepare certified payroll reports
- Provide monthly financial data for assigned projects
- Attend project kick-off meetings for new contracts, if applicable
- Set up new projects according to contract terms, including revenue recognition analysis
- Track, monitor, and analyze active projects
- Communicate with Project Managers and supervisors to ensure bills are accurate and issued timely
- Review accounts payable vouchers and expense reports for accuracy and proper coding
- Prepare balance sheet, project ledger to general ledger, and bank reconciliations
- Prepare financial statement analysis and journal entries
- Support audit requests and prepare audit workpapers
- Assist with research or duties supporting intercompany activities
- Prepare and maintain prepaid accounts amortization schedules
- Prepare sales and use tax returns or gross receipt tax returns as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for five years of progressive accounting experience
- Minimum of four years of accounting or related field experience
- Minimum of one year experience working for a large company or another Native Corporation
- Strong knowledge of economic and accounting and G/L principles, practices, and procedures
- Solid understanding of intermediate accounting principles
- Solid understanding of accounting principles related to fixed assets, construction-in-progress, and revenue recognition
- Ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Ability to prepare and review complex invoices
- Knowledge and skills in computerized accounting systems and ability to learn company-specific software
- Deltek Costpoint preferred but not required
- Proficiency in standard computer software, application programs, and email
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to read and understand contracts, agreements, employee handbooks, safety rules, and company SOPs
- Ability to pass a drug, background, reference, and credit check
