Job Description
Senior Accountant managing nonprofit clients’ accounting, audits, grants, and financial reporting remotely. Supporting accurate compliance and decision-making at Chazin & Company, a virtual nonprofit finance firm.
Responsibilities:
- Remotely manage clients' day-to-day accounting and finance needs
- Provide comprehensive accounting services, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll processing, and general ledger management
- Prepare month-end close workbooks for multiple clients, including balance sheet reconciliations and monthly financial statements
- Track and report restricted funds to prepare a net asset roll forward
- Assist with grant management and reporting
- Manage audits, including single audits; prepare schedules, support audits, and coordinate final schedules
- Assist with 990 preparation and local, state, and federal filings
- Produce specialized reporting to support client decision-making
- Organize and maintain client files, including prior-year audit and tax records
- Work under the guidance of the controller on analysis, cash flow, and budget preparation
- Communicate proactively with clients and provide exceptional customer service
- Collaborate in a virtual team environment
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- A minimum of five years general accounting experience
- Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Extensive experience with data management, record keeping and web-based applications
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and QuickBooks Online
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills
- Experience in audit preparation
- Ability to function well in a team-oriented virtual environment
- Desire and ability to become proficient with SAGE Intacct and other third-party applications
- Ability to work from home professionally and independently
- Nonprofit accounting experience preferred
