Job Description
Senior Applications Engineer assessing customer feasibility and shaping technical proposals for VulcanForms’ industrial additive manufacturing. Translating product requirements into actionable documentation for engineering and sales teams.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze customer product requirements and assess how VulcanForms' manufacturing capabilities can meet customer needs
- Design first-cut product proposals to assess requirements and identify risks or constraints early
- Gather and document customer requirements for internal NPI engineering teams
- Partner with sales on technical proposals and customer meetings
- Serve as the senior technical presence in high-stakes commercial conversations
- Translate customer intent into documentation internal product development teams can act on
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in an applications engineering, sales engineering, or technical product role within a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated ability to operate at a senior, customer-facing level
- Ability to assess technical feasibility quickly and communicate constraints or tradeoffs clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior customer stakeholders
- Strong written communication skills and ability to translate customer conversations into actionable engineering documentation
- Relationship-building skills and comfort serving as the senior technical presence in customer-facing and sales conversations
- Direct experience in metal additive manufacturing or 3D printing strongly preferred
- Experience in adjacent metal manufacturing processes such as precision machining, casting, or forging considered
- Experience supporting a technical sales cycle in a complex, engineered-to-order or highly customized manufacturing environment
- Experience working cross-functionally with design/engineering teams and sales teams
