Job Description

Senior Backend Engineer building Java and Spring Boot solutions for wealthAPI, a fintech disrupting wealth management. Owning architecture, delivery, scalability, and security in a small team.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in a small team, take product assignments, and lead them to completion
  • Own all phases of planning, development, and delivery
  • Participate in architectural design and decision-making
  • Conduct code peer reviews
  • Attend retrospectives to plan and execute team improvements
  • Support junior and mid-level team members to achieve high code quality
  • Use modern technologies including Spring Boot, Ruby on Rails, Postgres, gcloud, Kubernetes, Docker, and Astra DB
  • Contribute to technological projects and improve architecture, scalability, and security
  • Think about the product and improve customer experience

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of backend development experience
  • Strong development experience in Java and preferably Spring Boot
  • Test Driven Development
  • Extensive unit and integration testing skills
  • Experience in investing and personal wealth management is a huge plus
  • Mathematical proficiency is a huge plus
  • Machine learning experience or related statistical training
  • Experience with a big-data stack such as MongoDB or Cassandra
  • Knowledge of financial products and the stock market
  • Willingness to learn about new technologies
  • Use data or reliable sources of information to drive decision-making
  • Ability to take on complex problems, learn quickly, and persist toward a good solution
  • Ability to balance speed of delivery and code quality
  • English is mandatory
  • German is a plus
