Job Description
Senior Backend Engineer owning tax calculation and reporting for Solidgate, a global payments orchestration platform. Building resilient systems, integrating providers, and shaping the Taxes team.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the Taxes module within the Billing team
- Build tax calculation and reporting logic
- Integrate third-party tax providers
- Improve system resilience and uptime
- Make architectural decisions and set technical direction
- Mentor engineers as the team grows
- Deliver key tax functionality in the first months
- Lay a solid foundation for future product and team growth
- Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, functional, and e2e tests
Requirements:
- 6+ years of backend engineering experience in Go, PHP, Kotlin, Java, or Python
- Strong understanding of high-load system design
- Solid experience with PostgreSQL
- Experience with queues or streams
- Strong testing culture: unit, integration, functional, and e2e testing
- Proactive, independent, result-oriented mindset
- Kafka experience is a plus
- AWS services experience is a plus
- CI/CD pipelines experience is a plus
- Fintech, payments, or financial domain experience is a plus
- Understanding of VAT, GST, or Sales Tax is a plus
- Experience managing teams is a plus
