Job Description
Backend Engineer scaling Node/TypeScript and AWS infrastructure for Kovo’s financial-access products. Owning reliable APIs and systems serving underserved Americans.
Responsibilities:
- Own backend systems and infrastructure end-to-end, from design through deployment and scaling
- Build performant, reliable APIs and services powering financial products
- Design and implement scalable architectures on AWS using Node and TypeScript
- Make pragmatic tradeoffs between speed, reliability, scalability, and maintainability
- Ship production code frequently while maintaining high quality standards
- Establish technical patterns and best practices for the engineering team
- Interface effectively with product engineers and other stakeholders
- Own problems end-to-end, deliver high-quality code, dig into data, make product decisions, and iterate quickly in production
- Build and scale infrastructure powering financial access for millions of underserved Americans
- Submit a POST request with name and LinkedIn parameters before applying
Requirements:
- 5+ years or equivalent depth of experience in professional software engineering, with significant backend focus
- Experience building and scaling production systems with Node and AWS
- Proficiency with TypeScript
- Track record of delivering reliable, performant systems at scale
- Care deeply about performance, reliability, and scalability
- Motivated by ownership and accountability for system outcomes
- Think critically about architectural decisions and their long-term implications
- Comfortable making technical decisions with incomplete information
- Self-starter able to work independently and drive projects to completion
- Comfortable in a high-intensity role and seeking an ambitious workload
- Willingness to deliver on tight deadlines
- Excited to leverage AI-assisted development tools and orchestrate AI agents
- Commitment to maintaining code quality and system reliability
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
