Job Description
Senior Cyber Range Engineer architecting cloud-based cyber ranges for SimSpace’s AI-powered cyber readiness platform. Building isolated, scalable training environments and automation for high-fidelity security simulations.
Responsibilities:
- Architect, deploy, and maintain cloud-based cyber ranges and training environments
- Design, implement, and maintain local and cloud-based cyber range architectures supporting concurrent training scenarios and user sessions
- Develop Infrastructure as Code automation frameworks for rapid deployment, teardown, and reset of range environments
- Create emulated cloud services and resources when direct cloud integration is infeasible or not cost-effective
- Maintain security controls and network isolation to prevent range escape or resource abuse
- Collaborate with content developers to translate training requirements into technical specifications
- Provide expertise and guidance on SimSpace software for varied use cases
- Develop and maintain architecture, deployment, and troubleshooting documentation
- Deliver customized knowledge-transfer sessions and platform training curriculum to customers and partners
- Travel occasionally to customer or partner locations, estimated at 10%
Requirements:
- Strong bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish across written, virtual, and in-person interactions
- Advanced networking knowledge, including VPCs, VNets, subnets, routing, firewalls, security groups, NACLs, VPNs, and direct connectivity solutions
- Network engineering certification is a plus
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, including Puppet and Ansible
- Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and virtual machine deployment at scale
- Practical experience with monitoring and logging solutions
- Experience with cloud cost management and resource optimization techniques
- Experience with enterprise IT architectures and common business applications
- Knowledge of security concepts and best practices for isolated environments
- Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex infrastructure issues
- Exemplary documentation and technical communication abilities
- Strong customer interaction skills
- Ability to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States at hire
