Job Description
Senior Developer and Database Engineer building AI-enabled applications for U.S. federal modernization projects. Architecting databases, cloud solutions, security, and CI/CD integrations.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software applications using modern frameworks and languages
- Architect, build, and maintain relational and non-relational databases for application performance and scalability
- Collaborate with the Solution Architect, DevOps Engineer, and Data Scientists
- Design and implement data models, schemas, stored procedures, and database migration strategies
- Monitor and tune database performance for speed, availability, and scalability
- Implement data security best practices, including encryption, access control, and federal security compliance
- Integrate database changes into CI/CD pipelines with the Azure DevOps Engineer
- Support data pipelines and structures for AI and machine learning models
- Participate in peer code and database design reviews
- Document database designs, data flows, and application code
- Contribute to sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies
- Support a Federal client’s business and IT modernization project by building an AI-enabled application from the ground up
Requirements:
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust / DOI Public Trust Moderate Clearance
- Proficiency in React, Angular, Vue.js, .NET Core, Node.js, C#, and Entity Framework
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server, including stored procedures, indexing, and query optimization
- Experience with Azure SQL, Azure Cosmos DB, or other cloud-hosted database platforms
- Familiarity with NoSQL database solutions
- Experience with Docker and Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS)
- Knowledge of Azure Cognitive Services and Azure Cognitive Search
- Familiarity with AI and machine learning data pipeline requirements
- Experience implementing multi-factor authentication and secure application design
- Strong understanding of data security and compliance requirements in a federal environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Exemplary attendance and ability to work outside normal business hours when needed
- Ability to travel to client locations as needed
- BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience
- 7+ years overall IT/software development experience
- 5+ years hands-on application development experience
- 3+ years database engineering and architecture experience
- 3+ years cloud-based development experience, Azure preferred
- 2+ years Agile/Scrum development methodology experience
- 2+ years CI/CD pipeline integration experience
- Strong knowledge of the full SDLC using Agile principles
- Demonstrated experience with cloud technologies and architectures, preferably Azure
- Experience with design, development, and deployment of application software at scale
- Familiarity with CMMI is a plus
