Job Description
DevOps Engineer scaling Nuuly’s GCP, Kubernetes, and Kafka infrastructure for its fashion rental platform. Automating deployments, improving reliability, and optimizing event-driven systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage scalable and highly available cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, including Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Networking, and Confluent Kafka
- Collaborate with software development teams to establish efficient CI/CD pipelines and automate application deployments
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for cloud infrastructure health, performance, and security
- Optimize the Kafka message broker to support event-driven architecture and improve system performance
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks with cross-functional teams
- Ensure cloud infrastructure and application security through best practices and current threat mitigations
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, deployment, and application issues with developers
- Develop and maintain infrastructure, deployment, and troubleshooting documentation
- Monitor cloud technology, Kubernetes, and DevOps advancements and propose infrastructure improvements
- Build and maintain platform features and provide technical guidance to business teams adopting engineering features
- Enable seamless production infrastructure scalability and proactively address growth concerns
Requirements:
- More than 3 years of hands-on experience as a DevOps Engineer, with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure
- Knowledge of streaming data and distributed systems design with asynchronous message brokers like Kafka
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Deployment Manager
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Experience designing and managing cloud infrastructure on GCP, including virtual machines, storage, networking, and IAM
- Experience managing Kubernetes deployment, monitoring, scaling, and troubleshooting
- Experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines with GCP and GitHub Actions
- Understanding of Kafka components including Zookeeper, Brokers, and optimization of Kafka client applications (Producers/Consumers)
- Proficiency in YAML and writing structured configuration files for infrastructure management and application deployment
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Shell
- Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration concepts
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance standards
