Job Description
Senior Donation Coordinator evaluating tissue donors and supporting families for Live On Nebraska. Leading training, quality assurance, and process improvement across donation services.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate potential tissue donors through detailed review of medical and social histories
- Conduct donor suitability assessments using medical terminology, disease process knowledge, and regulatory guidelines
- Communicate with donor families to discuss donation opportunities and secure authorization
- Advocate for organ, tissue, and eye donation while supporting families experiencing loss
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, funeral homes, coroners, law enforcement, and other donation-process partners
- Serve as a senior subject matter expert for tissue donation practices and regulatory requirements
- Mentor, coach, and train Donation Coordinators and other team members
- Audit donor evaluations, documentation, recorded calls, and department processes for compliance and quality
- Deliver constructive feedback and support employee development initiatives
- Assist in developing training materials and departmental education programs
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, processes, and departmental performance
- Support operational improvements and quality initiatives
- Ensure adherence to organizational policies, HIPAA requirements, and applicable regulatory standards
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, Nursing, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field; or equivalent experience
- Minimum three years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably as an EMT, Paramedic, Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Minimum three years of experience as a Donation Coordinator or in a similar role within the organ procurement organization (OPO) industry
- Experience reviewing medical records and assessing donor suitability
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar systems)
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and disease processes
- Certified Tissue Banking Specialist (CTBS) certification preferred
- Experience auditing quality processes, documentation, or regulatory compliance programs preferred
- Prior coaching, mentoring, training, or leadership experience preferred
- Must be available to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and provide coverage as operational needs require
- 12-hour rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- On-call responsibilities may be required
- Occasional travel may be required
