Job Description
Senior Electrical Engineer reviewing utility-scale solar, wind, and battery projects for Bureau Veritas' renewable energy advisory services. Ensuring electrical designs meet codes, standards, owner requirements, cost, and schedule objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as part of Bureau Veritas' owner's engineering and technical advisory group for renewable power and utilities clients
- Support the full CAPEX cycle, including conceptual and feasibility work, permitting support, detailed design review, equipment inspection, construction support, commissioning, and start-up support
- Perform electrical design reviews using the Bureau Veritas design review process
- Receive design documents and prepare review plans
- Verify applicable codes, standards, and project requirements
- Check document authenticity and completeness
- Review designs against applicable codes, standards, and owner requirements
- Assess input data, modeling, design parameters, and design conditions
- Identify nonconformances and risks affecting project schedule and cost, and promptly notify clients
- Assign approval status to reviewed drawings
- Develop and issue review comment reports or logs to clients
- Evaluate compliance with contractual requirements, interconnection and interface requirements, performance requirements, equipment performance envelopes, design life, cost optimization, and scheduling considerations
Requirements:
- Full knowledge of electrical engineering theories and principles
- Minimum 7 years of experience as an electrical engineer working on renewable power and related utility projects
- Extensive experience with IEEE electrical design standards, NFPA, ANSI, NETA, and other related standards
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and strong computer skills
- Experience with ETAP, SKM, PSS/E, or ASPEN strongly preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and in a fast-paced team environment
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and participate on multiple projects simultaneously
- Critical thinking, attention to detail, effectiveness in high-stress situations, flexibility, dependability, honesty, and ethical conduct
- A mix of field engineering, EOR, OE, and EPC experience in renewable energy highly desirable
- 4-year electrical engineering degree or 4-year ABET-accredited Engineering Technology degree required
- Current, valid US Professional Engineer license required
