Job Description
Senior Embedded Engineer developing C, VxWorks, BSP, and driver software for custom hardware. Supporting DO-178C DAL A certification projects for Avenga’s engineering clients.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and validate embedded software for custom and COTS hardware systems
- Develop Board Support Packages (BSPs) for embedded hardware platforms
- Design, implement, and test software drivers for peripheral devices
- Develop hardware test code and support hardware bring-up, integration, and validation
- Develop and maintain embedded software in compliance with DO-178C requirements
- Contribute to software development activities for projects targeting DAL A certification
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex embedded software and hardware-related issues
- Prepare software design documentation and technical plans
- Support technical planning, effort estimation, and identification of required technical skills
- Collaborate with embedded software engineers, project managers, customer engineers, and other stakeholders
- Communicate technical information to engineering teams and customers
- Provide technical mentoring and knowledge sharing to junior engineers
- Support customer projects and, when required, work on customer sites
- Work independently, own assigned technical tasks, and deliver them on time
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in software development, including at least 5 years of experience with DO-178C development
- Strong experience in embedded software development, particularly low-level software such as BSPs and device drivers
- Strong C programming skills
- Hands-on experience with VxWorks and/or Linux
- Deep understanding of DO-178C, particularly DAL A certification, and familiarity with related standards
- Experience developing, debugging, and troubleshooting embedded software for custom and commercial off-the-shelf hardware
- Experience with embedded software development environments such as Wind River Workbench or Eclipse
- Experience with custom embedded hardware bring-up and validation
- Experience with PowerPC, MIPS, x86, or ARM processor architectures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and cross-functional engineering teams
- Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently
- Strong decision-making and judgment skills
- Willingness to mentor and support junior engineers
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
