Job Description
Senior Energy Consultant advising U.S. power developers, lenders, and utilities on renewable energy and storage projects. Delivering engineering, due diligence, market studies, and planning analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical consulting and advisory services to power project developers for utility-scale solar, wind, gas, battery energy storage, and other projects
- Provide independent engineering and due diligence services for lenders and investors evaluating financing of power and infrastructure projects
- Conduct technical, economic, and market studies for grid operators, utilities, and research agencies
- Perform planning studies and business case development for utilities, independent power producers, and government agencies
- Work on project teams within the Consulting group
- Interact face-to-face with power plant developers and owners, lenders, and investors during consulting services work
- Support the growth of renewable energy, battery energy storage, and utility planning/advisory practices
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering; other engineering disciplines may be considered
- 12 or more years of experience in the power industry
- Experience in one or more of: design of utility-scale solar, wind, and/or battery energy storage projects; independent engineering and due diligence services for power projects; power project development; solar, wind, and/or battery energy storage construction management
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Experience writing technical reports and proposals
- Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others
- Project planning and leadership skills
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; Sargent & Lundy does not sponsor work authorization
- Experience with project finance or financial modeling of power projects is a plus
- Experience with owner's engineering activities during power project execution is a plus
- Master's degree in engineering or business is a plus
