Job Description

Senior Engineer advancing biosolids thickening, dewatering, and thermal processes at Brown and Caldwell, an environmental engineering firm. Designing solutions, leading teams, and developing technical standards for municipal and private-sector clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and ensure consistent application of technical standards, guidelines, and best practices across projects and teams
  • Engage on nationally distributed project delivery teams to achieve project goals
  • Apply quality standards and best practices to maintain consistency and mitigate risks throughout project lifecycles
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and develop tailored technical solutions
  • Support Practice leader with SMS governance and systems for talent development
  • Assist with technical training and mentoring programs
  • Independently analyze, model, and design environmental engineering systems
  • Produce engineering deliverables including reports, plans, specifications, drawings, P&IDs, control narratives, and technical memoranda
  • Support business development and lead execution of high-quality solutions
  • Lead teams delivering services to municipal and private-sector clients
  • Develop talent and create and enforce technical standards
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to less experienced team members
  • Perform additional assignments based on evolving needs

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the assigned technical area
  • 10 years of increasing responsibility in related thickening, dewatering, and thermal process experience preferred
  • Degree in Engineering, Science, Geology, or a related field with emphasis related to the technical role
  • Experience planning, designing, and constructing thickening, dewatering, and/or thermal process projects preferred
  • Task lead experience preferred
  • Experience designing thickening, dewatering, or thermal process projects and preparing construction documents, including drawings, P&IDs, specifications, control narratives, and technical memoranda
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to conduct effective presentations and prepare written reports and documents
  • Strong aptitude for solving technical problems
  • Strong project or task management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Typically will become certified in BC's Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) Framework
  • Professional license achieved or in progress preferred
  • Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to mentor talent affiliated with the Practice
