Job Description

Senior telecommunications engineer designing complex utility communications and construction packages for Qualus. Supporting power infrastructure modernization across California and Nevada.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and create engineering designs for complex telecommunications solutions in the power and utility industry
  • Create detailed single line diagrams (SLDs) and full construction packages
  • Design robust telecommunications solutions involving fiber, microwave, SONET MUX, satellite, radio, FAN, circuit paths, power, switches, routers, TCP/IP, and firewalls
  • Create and markup SLDs, interconnect diagrams, WAN and LAN diagrams, tower drawings, and related documentation
  • Verify implementation feasibility and document site details
  • Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Collaborate with management, substation, transmission, distribution, specialists, and field technicians
  • Provide support throughout the construction process

Requirements:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent
  • PE preferred
  • 10+ years of experience researching and architecting/designing complex telecommunications solutions for utilities
  • Must be able to pass a NERC CIP level background check
  • Must be a US Citizen or possess a valid Green Card (Permanent Resident Card)
  • Proficiency with Adobe Pro, Excel, Visio, and MS Office suite
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Experience with utility telecommunications solutions, including OPGW/ADSS/DWDM Fiber, Microwave, SONET MUX, MHz & Repeaters, Satellite, Radio, FAN, Circuit Paths, Power, Switches, Routers, TCP/IP, and Firewalls
