Job Description
Senior Programmer Analyst building AI-driven cloud-native systems for Valmont’s agricultural and infrastructure technologies. Developing Python backends, Angular/React frontends, and Azure solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Apply Agile, Waterfall or other similar application lifecycle methodology to develop solutions
- Own AI-driven software solutions end-to-end, from problem discovery and stakeholder interviews through design, development and deployment
- Work directly with internal business teams to understand workflows, pain points and opportunities for automation and optimization
- Design, build and operate end-to-end cloud-native systems with Python backends, Angular or React frontends, and secure, reliable infrastructure
- Collaborate with the Data Science team to integrate models, optimization algorithms and AI agents into production systems
- Balance rapid experimentation with production-grade engineering practices in an industrial environment
- Perform systems analysis and design; document, develop, implement and maintain complex applications with little or no supervision
- Ensure systems and applications adhere to departmental standards, controls and audit trails, and are thoroughly tested before production installation
- Identify and document gaps between current and future business processes
- Analyze and translate user requirements into technical design and development projects
- Develop technical architecture and code for databases, scripts and user interfaces
- Assist Business Analysts and Programmers in identifying fields for data conversion
- Lead project teams and end users in data validation and quality activities
- Monitor and assist project teams and end users during user acceptance testing
- Provide ongoing application technical support and participate in application training
- Provide documentation, technical specifications and infrastructure requirements for development projects
- Monitor industry trends, standards and technologies; research, recommend and apply new technologies
- Perform feasibility analysis of alternative solutions across technical, infrastructural, organizational and economic aspects
- Perform project management activities including task identification, effort and duration estimates, dependencies, sequencing, critical path analysis, resource assignment and evaluation, conflict resolution and problem resolution
- Report to the Manager IT Business Applications; no direct or indirect reports
Requirements:
- Preferred bachelor’s /Associate degree with 7+ years relevant experience
- Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer
- Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure and cloud-native system design
- Hands-on experience with Angular and/or React and Azure-based programming
- Experience building or deploying AI-enabled or data-intensive systems (Advantage)
- Experience developing internal enterprise platforms or tools (Advantage)
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects end-to-end
- Experience developing Azure Logic App, Function App, Storage and static web app programming skills, ADFS and Azure development
- Strong Python development experience
- Experience with ASP.Net4, VB.Net, C#.Net, ADO.Net, Entity Framework, MFC, HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, CSS, XML, AJAX, PL/SQL, SQL, ASP.Net MVC, Web Services, API Programming, Azure and client programming
- Working experience with GitHub and Azure DevOps and AI-first SDLC process
- Experience with report building in .Net, complex SQL concepts with Oracle PL/SQL and MSSQL query languages
- Experience with unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, test case writing, documentation, application troubleshooting and requirements analysis, estimation and technical support
- Up to 15% international/domestic travel, including overnight stays
