Job Description

Senior Project & Commissioning Engineer supporting utility-scale battery storage design, construction, and commissioning for Plus Power. Partnering with EPC firms, utilities, and grid teams across North America.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and lead technical deliverables for the design, construction, and commissioning of BESS projects with third-party engineering and EPC firms
  • Support the EPC Leadership Team with supplier and contractor management across equipment vendors and construction firms
  • Partner with Transmission, Interconnection, and Market Analysis teams on interconnection agreements and BESS grid integration
  • Assist with preparing and issuing RFQ/RFP packages to EPC contractors and engineering consultants
  • Support development of project scopes of work, RFPs, schedules, budgets, cash flow projections, and technical contract requirements
  • Attend meetings with developers, contractors, consultants, and utility companies
  • Travel to project sites before, during, and after construction
  • Provide input on permitting and regulatory applications and respond to stakeholder inquiries

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably focused on Power Engineering
  • 5–7+ years of experience in project engineering, development, procurement/contracting, and construction management in power generation, utility, and transmission industries
  • Experience designing, constructing, commissioning, and operating high-voltage utility substations, switchyards, and transmission systems
  • Experience leading projects from feasibility evaluations through development, design, engineering, and construction
  • Understanding of real property, permitting, regulatory matters, environmental compliance, interconnection, and transmission
  • Knowledge of market dynamics for major equipment, engineering services, construction services, and labor
  • Strong understanding of battery energy storage value proposition and/or BESS engineering fundamentals
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, SharePoint, and Excel
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or equivalent, including Revu Bluebeam
  • Ability to travel intermittently, up to approximately 30% annually
