Job Description
Senior RPG Programmer/Analyst leading IBM i application modernization and Cleo Extol EDI integrations for Fresche Solutions. Connecting legacy systems with scalable enterprise data exchanges.
Responsibilities:
- Lead EDI initiatives using Cleo Extol to integrate IBM i applications, customers, suppliers, and third-party systems
- Analyze business requirements, troubleshoot application and EDI issues, and deliver solutions across the project lifecycle
- Analyze, design, code, test, and maintain applications using RPG, RPGLE, Free-Form RPG, Embedded SQL, and DB2 for i
- Develop and support data exchanges using X12, EDIFACT, XML, and other EDI standards
- Perform unit, integration, user acceptance, and regression testing
- Create and maintain technical documentation for applications, interfaces, EDI maps, and business processes
- Provide technical guidance, perform code reviews, and support junior team members
- Modernize legacy IBM i applications and integration frameworks into scalable ILE-based solutions
Requirements:
- Extensive IBM i expertise developing and supporting enterprise solutions on IBM i (iSeries / AS400)
- Strong Cleo Extol EDI experience, including EDI mapping, translation, trading partner onboarding, transaction troubleshooting, and production EDI support
- Deep knowledge of RPG III, RPG IV, RPGLE, Free-Form RPG, Embedded SQL, service programs, and modern ILE development
- Expertise with ANSI X12, EDIFACT, XML, CSV, and other EDI formats
- Advanced DB2 for i skills, including database design, SQL programming, query optimization, and data modeling
- Business acumen in distribution, manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, finance, or insurance environments
- Experience integrating IBM i applications with external systems, APIs, web services, and middleware
- Change management and deployment experience, including structured release processes and source control
- Strong communication skills with technical and business stakeholders
- Experience with Cleo Harmony, Clarify, or other Cleo integration platforms is a plus
- Experience supporting high-volume EDI environments is a plus
- Knowledge of IBM i ERP solutions such as Infor LX, BPCS, Infor XA, MAPICS, PRMS, JDE, Frontier, or HFA is a plus
- Experience with RDi or Eclipse-based IBM i development tools is a plus
- Git, SVN, or other source control tools in an IBM i environment is a plus
- Experience with impact analysis and application modernization tools is a plus
- Integration experience with REST APIs, JSON, XML, GoAnywhere, FTP/SFTP, and other data exchange technologies is a plus
- Knowledge of trading partner onboarding, EDI compliance, and supply chain data integration best practices is a plus
