Job Description
Senior Ruby developer building scalable, fault-tolerant Ruby services for SOFTSWISS’s data-intensive systems. Optimizing production performance, databases, and complex data solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design and improve scalable Ruby services for high-load, data-intensive systems
- Own solutions from implementation through production
- Troubleshoot complex issues
- Optimize application and database performance
- Contribute to technical decisions and engineering practices
- Work in a fully agile environment with senior engineers and product managers
- Participate in designing fault-tolerant, highly available, and optimized solutions
- Monitor and optimize services in production
- Research and develop new technologies and tools
- Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and business teams
Requirements:
- Minimum 5-year experience in software development
- Solid Ruby programming skills
- Hands-on experience with data-intensive applications development and performance tuning
- Experience in developing complex solutions from scratch
- Strong SQL skills and solid understanding of relational databases
- Ability and curiosity to investigate complex data issues, analyze large datasets, and perform root-cause analysis
- Deep data structures, OOP, and algorithms knowledge
- Good communication skills
- Familiarity with ClickHouse
- Familiarity with AI-powered developer tools and practical experience integrating them into daily development workflows
- Experience with Kafka
- Ability to implement space- and time-efficient algorithms and understand which one is preferable and when
- Readiness to learn other programming languages, e.g. Golang and Scala
- Familiarity with SRE practices
- Familiarity with cloud-native technologies, e.g. Kubernetes, Helm, and Prometheus
