Job Description
Senior Software Engineer developing front-end and back-end systems for Ad Hoc’s federal digital services. Leading technical contributions, system improvements, and mentoring within remote engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as an experienced individual contributor within a software engineering team
- Support scope, schedule, and delivery requirements with minimal leadership oversight
- Contribute to long-term program goals and implementation of the program’s development strategy
- Serve as the discipline’s primary lead when working with stakeholders
- Maintain ownership of an application code base
- Coordinate integration with adjacent technical systems and ecosystems
- Diagnose and resolve system issues and use incidents to inform system improvements
- Mentor and assist junior engineers
- Communicate technical issues and developments with team members and clients
- Participate in technical interviews
- Propose and evaluate approaches to technical and process problems
- Lead small, less critical, temporary team structures and projects
- Present design documents and system diagrams to clients, stakeholders, partners, and engineers
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of engineering experience
- Relevant years of experience may be substituted for education
- Expert-level knowledge in at least one technical area, including frontend, backend, or infrastructure engineering
- Ability to demonstrate expertise, accountability, and ownership of contributions to an application code base
- High-level understanding of adjacent technical areas and ecosystems
- Ability to diagnose and resolve system issues
- Ability to mentor junior engineers
- Ability to communicate technical issues and developments with team members and clients
- Strong influential skills to propose and evaluate technical and process approaches
