Job Description
Senior Go engineer designing distributed backend services for PrizePicks, a leading daily fantasy sports platform. Owning complex features, reliability, architecture, and engineering mentorship.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement performant, scalable, and reliable Go-based microservices for real-time and high-throughput workloads
- Lead technical design and end-to-end implementation of complex features from product requirements through deployment and monitoring
- Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize database queries, and improve distributed-system resilience under load
- Propose and drive architectural decisions, evaluating tradeoffs and communicating recommendations
- Mentor Software Engineers I, II, and III through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance
- Define and improve engineering practices around code quality, testing, observability, and deployment
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, QA, and engineering teams to translate product goals into technical solutions
- Participate in the on-call rotation, contribute to root cause analysis, and drive long-term reliability improvements
Requirements:
- 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience, with significant time building production Go services
- Proven track record of owning and delivering complex, multi-component features in a team environment
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven architectures
- Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, including schema design and query optimization
- Expert-level Go proficiency; ability to write idiomatic, well-tested, production-quality Go code
- Solid understanding of API design (REST, gRPC, or GraphQL)
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
- Understanding of observability practices including logging, metrics, and tracing
- Ability to take ambiguous problems and drive them to well-defined solutions
- Comfortable providing and receiving direct technical feedback
- Strong written communication, especially in a fully remote environment
- Ability to balance deep technical work with collaborative design and planning
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is unavailable
