Job Description

Senior Go engineer designing distributed backend services for PrizePicks, a leading daily fantasy sports platform. Owning complex features, reliability, architecture, and engineering mentorship.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement performant, scalable, and reliable Go-based microservices for real-time and high-throughput workloads
  • Lead technical design and end-to-end implementation of complex features from product requirements through deployment and monitoring
  • Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize database queries, and improve distributed-system resilience under load
  • Propose and drive architectural decisions, evaluating tradeoffs and communicating recommendations
  • Mentor Software Engineers I, II, and III through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance
  • Define and improve engineering practices around code quality, testing, observability, and deployment
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, QA, and engineering teams to translate product goals into technical solutions
  • Participate in the on-call rotation, contribute to root cause analysis, and drive long-term reliability improvements

Requirements:

  • 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience, with significant time building production Go services
  • Proven track record of owning and delivering complex, multi-component features in a team environment
  • Experience designing and operating distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven architectures
  • Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, including schema design and query optimization
  • Expert-level Go proficiency; ability to write idiomatic, well-tested, production-quality Go code
  • Solid understanding of API design (REST, gRPC, or GraphQL)
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
  • Understanding of observability practices including logging, metrics, and tracing
  • Ability to take ambiguous problems and drive them to well-defined solutions
  • Comfortable providing and receiving direct technical feedback
  • Strong written communication, especially in a fully remote environment
  • Ability to balance deep technical work with collaborative design and planning
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is unavailable
