Job Description

Senior Software Engineer focusing on Trust & Safety systems for Rula's pivotal mental health ecosystem. Leading product implementations remotely while mentoring engineers in a fully remote environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a leader in our digital armor, driving product-based implementations that enable us to fulfill, audit, measure, and enforce critical Trust & Safety policies across both internal and external-facing users and workflows.
  • Help lead the charge on both product architecture and operational, process-based solutions—building robust custom tools and leveraging top-tier industry solutions to investigate and mitigate threats like fraud, billing anomalies, and credential abuse.
  • Establish a brand-new engineering domain from the ground up, mentor other engineers, and build scalable systems that directly protect a vital mental health ecosystem.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of SWE experience, 1+ years working on Trust & Safety systems & 1+ years of experience helping with a brand new project or team
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical groups
  • Fullstack experience building modern database-backed (sql/no-sql) web applications
  • Microservice development knowledge and experience
  • A passion for and ownership of mentoring others, reviewing architectures, and establishing design patterns.
  • Have driven all phases of the development lifecycle: planning, specing, execution, and measuring success, post-launch maintenance
  • Examples of working on highly complex projects with a focus on achieving sustainable results
  • Start-up experience
  • Experience developing SaaS applications using the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform
  • Previous experience in products with high reliability/accuracy requirements (finance, mission critical systems, etc.)
  • Experience with “on-call”, ability to deep dive complex issues and drive them to resolution independently
  • Experience with NodeJs, Typescript, Kafka

Benefits:

  • 100% remote work environment: Working hours to support a healthy work-life balance, ensuring you can meet both professional and personal commitments (must be based in United States, currently not hiring in Hawaii)
  • Attractive pay and benefits: Full transparency of pay ranges regardless of where you live in the United States
  • Comprehensive health benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and FSA/HSA
  • 401(k) plan access: Start saving for your future
  • Generous time-off policies: Including 2 company-wide shutdown weeks each year for self-care (for most employees)
  • Paid parental leave: Available for all parents, including birthing, non-birthing, adopting, and fostering
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Supporting your mental and physical health
  • Quarterly department stipend: Fun team-building activities or in-person gatherings
  • Community and employee resource groups: Participate in groups that celebrate employee identity and lived experiences, fostering a sense of community and belonging for all
  • Home office stipend: New hire home office stipend & $50 monthly stipend to help cover internet or cell phone expenses
  • Wellness at Rula program: Year-round wellness initiatives and a $50/month wellness stipend
