Job Description
Senior Software Engineer owning Verisma’s regulated enterprise application systems. Building React and C#/.NET features, cloud-native integrations, and AI-assisted engineering practices.
Responsibilities:
- Own the architecture, quality, scalability, maintainability, and operational health of a system or subsystem within Verisma’s enterprise application
- Translate business goals into technical designs, identify constraints and trade-offs, and document decisions
- Lead multi-person technical efforts from design through delivery
- Design, develop, and enhance features using React with TypeScript on the front end and C#/.NET on the back end
- Optimize and maintain SQL Server databases, including schema design, performance tuning, and data integrity
- Refactor legacy codebases into modern, modular architectures using cloud-native best practices
- Implement and automate unit and integration testing strategies
- Establish technical standards, code review expectations, secure coding practices, and PHI-handling requirements
- Participate in on-call rotation and lead resolution of production issues
- Design and evolve event-driven integrations, including messaging patterns, event contracts, versioning, and delivery guarantees
- Ensure asynchronous workflows handle duplicate and out-of-order delivery, poison messages, dead-lettering, and eventual consistency while preserving PHI data integrity and auditability
- Establish AI usage patterns and verification requirements for AI-generated artifacts
- Identify architectural and security failure modes introduced by AI-generated code
- Decompose work appropriately for AI-assisted workflows and maintain effective specifications, tests, and architectural documentation
- Ensure AI tool usage complies with PHI handling, approved-tool, and audit requirements
- Collaborate with internal employees, contractors, and DevOps teams
- Use Azure DevOps for source control, CI/CD, and work tracking
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and continuous process improvement
- Mentor junior developers and promote technical excellence
- Report to the Director of Software Engineering
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience required
- 6+ years of professional software development experience, including full-stack and cloud-native development, with demonstrated ownership of a production system
- Proficiency in C#/.NET for backend development
- Proficiency in React with TypeScript and Redux for frontend development
- Proficiency in SQL Server, including T-SQL, schema design, and stored procedures
- Proficiency in Azure, including App Services, containers, horizontal scaling, and message queues
- Demonstrated ability to review AI-generated code critically and explain instances where generated output was rejected and why
- Experience establishing AI-assisted development practice within a system area, including verification standards and review expectations
- Experience with Azure DevOps Repos, Pipelines, and Boards required
- Microsoft Power BI Embedded a plus
- Ability to write meaningful automated unit and integration tests using xUnit, Moq, or similar frameworks
- Deep working knowledge of secure coding practices aligned with OWASP Top 10
- Solid understanding of software architecture principles, including microservices and SPA design
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and raise technical standards across a team
- Experience in healthcare or other regulated environments preferred
- Experience working in Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Self-starter with a proactive mindset and passion for continuous learning and improvement
- Open to travel up to 10% of the time
