Job Description
Senior Technical Operations Engineer scaling Metricool’s Mautic email infrastructure for its B2B SaaS platform. Optimizing AWS, MySQL, RabbitMQ, deliverability, and data systems.
Responsibilities:
- Own and scale the infrastructure behind Metricool's product email system
- Optimize servers, heavy MySQL databases, and RabbitMQ queues behind the Mautic instance
- Improve Mautic processes including segment synchronization, campaigns, sending jobs, and cron jobs
- Monitor sends, queues, and servers; detect and resolve issues before campaign impact
- Scale the platform to send approximately 3 million emails per day without outages
- Maintain email deliverability, including SPF, DKIM, DMARC, bounces, and complaints
- Handle and triage Marketing and Product requests and bug reports via Slack
- Respond to incidents during email sends, with backup available and no formal on-call
- Maintain and evolve Mautic custom PHP/Symfony code using AI tools as support
- Document architecture, runbooks, and fixes
- Contribute to the data platform and attribution work, including ClickHouse, Python export pipelines, Go services, and Aerospike
- Collaborate with Marketing, Product, Data, and Revenue to create lasting fixes
- Work with Borja, the technical lead, in a feedback-driven, service-minded environment
- Participate in Black Friday sending processes and prepare to take full ownership the following year
Requirements:
- The candidate must be located in Spain
- At least 5 years of experience in systems, infrastructure or technical operations
- Senior technical support specialist-level knowledge covering servers, Linux, DNS, infrastructure, networking, traffic, email sending, domain reputation and security
- Proven experience administering and optimizing MySQL databases under heavy load
- English is mandatory (minimum B2)
- Spanish is highly preferred
- PHP; Symfony is a strong plus
- AWS experience, especially EC2 and SES, is highly valuable
- Experience managing email-sending infrastructure is highly valuable
- Bonus, not required from day one: Mautic, RabbitMQ, Aerospike, ClickHouse, data pipelines, Go, and AI tools for writing and maintaining code
- Strong problem-solving and service mindset
- Ability to understand non-technical teams' needs and communicate clearly
- Calm and curious under a high volume of requests
- Genuine curiosity and passion for how the Internet works, backed by solid hands-on fundamentals
