Job Description

Senior Oncology Therapeutic Area Specialist promoting Bristol Myers Squibb medicines across Michigan. Delivering scientific engagement, territory planning, and compliant sales growth with healthcare providers.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive demand for BMS medicines within the assigned oncology portfolio for appropriate patients
  • Engage healthcare providers through differentiated customer experiences and deeper scientific dialogue consistent with product labeling
  • Build and maintain professional credibility with regional thought leaders, community physicians, medical practices, office staff, and other patient-care stakeholders
  • Promote approved indications of BMS products within the defined territory to meet or exceed sales targets compliantly
  • Communicate the clinical and scientific rationale for appropriate product use in a fair and balanced manner
  • Maintain and grow scientific expertise in assigned products and therapeutic areas
  • Prepare and implement comprehensive territory and account plans
  • Use CE^3 and other available tools to generate insights and dynamically inform call plans
  • Conduct in-office presentations, including lunch-and-learns, for healthcare providers
  • Organize external speaker programs and facilitate speaker scheduling and logistics
  • Maintain working expertise on emerging data for approved indications
  • Engage Medical on Call for unsolicited questions and complex technical inquiries
  • Collaborate with other field teams to deliver the best customer experience
  • Gather and share customer insights internally with appropriate stakeholders
  • Comply with laws, regulations, and BMS policies
  • Spend approximately 100% of working time in the field with external customers

Requirements:

  • Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience as healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nurse
  • Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately and convincingly to physicians
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining credibility with key customers, office staff, and customer influence networks
  • Experience in Hematology/Oncology required
  • Strong account management skills
  • Superior selling competencies and proven sales performance meeting or exceeding goals
  • Ability to work effectively cross-functionally
  • Strong selling and promotional skills with a performance track record
  • Customer/commercial mindset and ability to drive business results
  • Experience identifying, engaging, and cultivating customer credibility across the patient care journey
  • Problem-solving and account management skills
  • Understanding of the patient journey and ability to tailor engagement and messages
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for scientific and clinical data
  • Ability to analyze prescribing patterns, market trends, HCP preferences, and clinical/product data
  • Ability to segment HCPs based on preferences and relevant factors
  • Ability to use CE^3 for insights and dynamic call planning
  • Technological proficiency with digital communication channels, CE^3, CRM/software tools, and Medical on Call
  • Strong business acumen for analyzing business and market drivers and developing, executing, and adjusting business plans
  • Learning agility, integrity, and good judgment
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver's license in good standing issued by the state of residence
  • Driving risk level acceptable to the Company
  • Must operate a Company-provided vehicle
