Job Description

Small Business Credit Officer reviewing complex SBA and healthcare business loans for Fifth Third Bank. Analyzing borrower finances, structuring credit, and mentoring analysts.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and decision small business loan applications in a centralized environment for high-dollar and complex loans
  • Assist peers and less experienced colleagues through the loan decision process
  • Spread financial statements based on loan package information
  • Provide loan decisions and/or credit recommendations based on underwriting criteria, loan structure, collateral, interest rate and fees
  • Perform global cash flow and balance sheet analysis for small-business healthcare loans up to $2 million
  • Prepare written evaluations of borrowers' financial condition and future outlook, identifying risks and mitigation
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop loan structures meeting customer needs and the organization's risk appetite
  • Assist and mentor fellow team members in portfolio monitoring
  • Identify opportunities and recommend solutions for process improvements and software development
  • Mentor credit analysts in risk management skills and knowledge
  • Communicate loan decisions to loan originators
  • Identify and review necessary due diligence items
  • Negotiate loan terms and conditions with originators
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • College degree in accounting, finance or economics is preferred
  • Two+ years in underwriting, portfolio monitoring, or similar business loan analysis
  • SBA knowledge preferred
  • Basic knowledge of commercial lending and credit standards, policies, procedures, and products
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Word and Excel
  • Familiarity with the Bank's internal applications is helpful
