Job Description
Senior SmartCOMM Developer building high-volume insurance communications with SmartCOMM. Integrating omnichannel templates with enterprise platforms and mentoring CCM developers.
Responsibilities:
- Architect, design, build, and maintain complex multi-channel document templates using SmartCOMM Template Designer, Data Modeler, and Style Editor
- Deliver high-volume batch and interactive communication templates
- Configure schemas, data models, and business logic for dynamic, rule-driven enterprise communication layouts
- Integrate SmartCOMM with upstream enterprise core platforms through REST/SOAP APIs and message queues such as Kafka and MQ
- Configure and optimize batch generation, on-demand document generation, and interactive drafting workflows
- Establish and enforce design standards, template modularity, reusability, and version-control best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks in high-volume batch runs and API-triggered real-time communications
- Assist with migrating legacy communication templates to modern SmartCOMM architectures
- Provide technical guidance, conduct peer code reviews, and mentor junior and mid-level CCM developers
- Collaborate with business analysts, solution architects, and downstream delivery teams on omnichannel digital communication strategies
Requirements:
- 7 to 9 years of experience in Customer Communications Management (CCM)
- At least 4+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience in SmartCOMM (Smart Communications)
- Deep expertise in SmartCOMM Template Designer
- Expertise in Data Modeler and schema definitions
- Expertise in document orchestration and output channels, including PDF, HTML5, email, and print streams
- Experience with SmartCOMM Appliance or Cloud platform configurations
- Strong proficiency in XML, XSLT, XPath, XSD, and JSON
- Experience consuming and exposing RESTful and SOAP web services
- Working knowledge of JavaScript, Groovy, or Java for custom business rules and transformations
- Experience with Git, SVN, CI/CD pipelines, and JIRA
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum delivery model
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience integrating SmartCOMM with CRM/ERP platforms such as Salesforce or Guidewire
- Hands-on knowledge of migrating Thunderhead NOW to SmartCOMM
- Experience with AWS or Azure and containerized deployments
- Official Smart Communications Developer certification is desirable
