Job Description

Software Engineer building scalable clients, drivers, and distributed systems for Dremio’s open lakehouse analytics and AI platform. Contributing to Apache Arrow and customer-facing BI integrations.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the software development cycle from inception, design, development, testing, and deployment
  • Work actively with open source software and contribute back, with a focus on Apache Arrow projects
  • Participate in code and design reviews to maintain exceptional quality and deepen understanding of system architecture and implementation
  • Collaborate with program managers, support, architects, and others on new feature requests and updates to existing designs
  • Help grow the team through recruiting, mentoring, and developing best practices
  • Work directly with customers and client-tool partners such as Tableau and Power BI
  • Build core experiences on the Dremio stack as part of a highly technical team
  • Contribute to Dremio’s vision of an autonomous data platform for analytics and AI

Requirements:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Fluency in Java, C++ or another modern language
  • Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, multi-threaded and asynchronous patterns and their applications toward developing scalable systems
  • Passion for quality, zero downtime upgrades, availability, resiliency, and platform uptime
  • Experience developing scalable distributed systems and deploying, scaling, and managing microservices
  • Bonus: JDBC, ODBC, ADBC or other database driver/protocol experience
  • Bonus: Apache Arrow
  • Bonus: Working knowledge of SQL language
  • Bonus: Hands-on experience with databases, distributed systems and highly available services
  • Bonus: Experience working on client-side libraries/applications
  • Bonus: Contributions to open source projects
