Job Description

Database reliability engineer testing InfluxDB Enterprise 3 for correctness, stability, and performance. Building automated reliability workflows for distributed workloads and production readiness.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and execute automated reliability, regression, and correctness test workflows within the CI/CD pipeline
  • Implement and maintain repeatable test contracts validating query accuracy, product lifecycle, database compactions, and recoverability
  • Simulate real-world customer workloads, database restarts, memory exhaustion, and deployments for exhaustive reliability testing
  • Collaborate with core developers to convert engineering specifications and customer root-cause analyses into formal, repeatable test constraints
  • Investigate complex performance data variations and capture system profiles
  • Identify architectural bottlenecks before production deployment
  • Participate in an on-call rotation when needed
  • Develop and review automated reports flagging query latency regressions, data divergence bugs, and resource starvation issues to engineering stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Deep hands-on experience developing using Rust, or desire to learn Rust with system experience in C++ or Golang
  • Proven track record in performance, regression, and reliability validation frameworks
  • Ability to establish repeatable baselines for distributed data systems
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years of work experience
  • Comfort using modern AI assistants and tools such as Claude
  • Competency with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Competency with CI utilities such as CircleCI
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work asynchronously
