Job Description
Software Engineer building Hermes Agent, Nous Portal, and infrastructure for Nous Research. Developing product surfaces, backend services, cloud systems, and AI tooling.
Responsibilities:
- Build Hermes Agent, Nous Portal, and other infrastructure powering Nous Research
- Develop product surfaces across web, desktop, and mobile
- Build backend services and APIs that support real-world usage
- Work on the cloud platform and infrastructure behind products and model serving
- Develop tooling for developers and researchers
- Address the highest-leverage problems for the company each quarter
Requirements:
- A few years building and shipping production software that real people depend on
- Depth in at least one area: frontend, backend, infrastructure, systems, or ML tooling
- Range to work outside a primary area of depth
- Fluency in TypeScript and Python
- Comfort using a systems language such as Rust when appropriate
- Strong ownership and ability to independently address broken or missing functionality
- Heavy use of AI-assisted development in own workflow
- Clear communication and low ego
- Experience with AI products, LLM applications, agents, or tool-calling workflows (preferred)
- Open-source contributions or demonstrable side projects (preferred)
- Familiarity with PyTorch, OpenAI-compatible APIs, model routing, or inference (preferred)
